Feline Friday: A Luna and Angus Update

Happy Feline Friday all!

I figured I'd give y'all a quick update on Angus and Luna.

Angus's icky eye is *finally* much better, after four months and three vets. It was probably caused by a virus like the herpes virus that causes cold sores in people, so it may well come back at some point, and I'll still be putting ointment in his eye for a bit, but he is looking (and clearly feeling) much, much better.

The right eye (on the left in this picture) was swollen and inflamed.
I have mixed feelings about my Luna news. I found someone who is going to try adopting her--a lovely woman who is the friend of a friend, and who lost her own tortie two years ago and has no other cats. She's picking Luna up tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

If it works out, it will be a great thing for Luna, who at less than 2 and very active, shouldn't have to spend most of her days shut upstairs because she can't get along with Magic and Mystic. (Not to mention that getting up and down has been tough with my twisted knee, and I'm going to have guests upstairs for most of July and part of August.)

But I have to admit, it is breaking my heart to give her up. I've had her for 15 months, and I am very attached, of course. And when she's not being a holy terror, she is sweet and adorable. But I have to do what is best for her, and having the run of a house and someone to love her all day long will probably make her very happy. We'll see. I've told the woman that if Luna isn't happy, or if the cat drives her nuts, I will take Luna back. At least then I will know that I did everything I could. But I still haz a sad.

Luna on "her" stool. You can see the jar of treats where she got on the counter and knocked them onto the floor.
In non-cat news, look what I got from Berkley today!

ARCs fo Dangerously Charming!
Yes, that's a box of ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) of DANGEROUSLY CHARMING! I didn't know if they were going to do ARCs for this book or not (they tend to do them at the beginning of a new series, and I wasn't sure if they considered this a new series or a continuation of the Baba Yaga series). I was really pleased to see that they had the cover photo too, since a lot of ARCs are just a white cover with the title printed on it. And let's face it, the cover photo is pretty cool :-)

I guess I'm going to have to do another giveaway now, huh?

Who wants one?

  2. Aaaw, I hope that Luna has found her forever home. And if this is a friend of a friend then you should AR least be able to hear how she is coming along. ((Hugs)) and yes. I would LOVE to win

  4. Even bittersweet, I hope this works out with Luna. My dilute calico died from complications of a cold, which I am told is linked to a herpes type virus in cats. Ever so glad to see Angus looking better! Yes, an ARC giveaway please!

  5. What a relief that Angus is better! I hope Luna's new home works out but there's bound to be adjustment. So glad that you'll take her back if it doesn't. Yes, congratulations on your new book! DANGEROUSLY CHARMING is such an evocative title!

  7. Its not always in the best interest of the animal to keep it. No matter how much you love it. Tonight is a bad pet night here. My last ferret, Swiper, died in her sleep during the day today. She was almost 11.

Non animal note. Can't wait for that book to come out. Loved the Wickedly so far and can't wait to read about the riders.

  11. I'm sure you're doing what's best for Luna. Sometimes we have to let go for them to be happy.
I would love to have a copy of your book, as I have been trying to read your fiction books for sone time but don't have a credit card so I can't order from Amazon. Also my Mom passed away last Sunday and we held her funeral today. I am her executor so I have been running around trying to get everything settled but I have lots more to do. It would be nice to have something good to read when I have some down time.

  13. Lots of good luck wishes to Lovely Luna! As sad as I know it is, you gotta do what's best for her no matter how much it hurts.

Do you even have to ask who wants one? I do!

  14. Who wants one...me! Sad for you that Luna will be going to a new forever home but hopefully she will love the freedom and not having to share her human with others.

  15. I would be so honored to have one -- I have bought most of your books and you know how much I love you and respect you! Going to have to find a way to get this book as well! And love and hugs for being brave and thinking of Luna. That makes you special. Always.

  16. Best of luck to Luna and her new human. Also, I think it would have been a shorter list if you had asked, "Who doesn't want one?" Of course we all do.

  18. We adopted a silver persian cat from an elderly couple that couldn't care for her. She had been living under a couch. Toward the end of her life she had to live in a room by herself. She couldn't tolerate our other cats but she made the transition from her old home to us and lived a long and well-loved life. I hope that happpens for Luna too.

I can't wait for the new book. I would love an ARC.

  19. My Vinegar is currently getting cream 4x a day plus a scoop of powder in her food twice a day for that STUPID eye thing. Sigh. It's caused by stress and she's the one they all pick on. We are doing a lot of other holistic things including pet-essential sprays and reiki. Hurts my heart to see her terrorized. Hope your boy stays better! :D Yay and sad for Luna and you. I totally get that. I've fostered before and it was so hard to say goodbye. And I would love an ARC. :D
