Feline Friday: A Luna and Angus Update

Happy Feline Friday all!

I figured I'd give y'all a quick update on Angus and Luna.

Angus's icky eye is *finally* much better, after four months and three vets. It was probably caused by a virus like the herpes virus that causes cold sores in people, so it may well come back at some point, and I'll still be putting ointment in his eye for a bit, but he is looking (and clearly feeling) much, much better.

The right eye (on the left in this picture) was swollen and inflamed.
I have mixed feelings about my Luna news. I found someone who is going to try adopting her--a lovely woman who is the friend of a friend, and who lost her own tortie two years ago and has no other cats. She's picking Luna up tomorrow (Saturday) morning.

If it works out, it will be a great thing for Luna, who at less than 2 and very active, shouldn't have to spend most of her days shut upstairs because she can't get along with Magic and Mystic. (Not to mention that getting up and down has been tough with my twisted knee, and I'm going to have guests upstairs for most of July and part of August.)

But I have to admit, it is breaking my heart to give her up. I've had her for 15 months, and I am very attached, of course. And when she's not being a holy terror, she is sweet and adorable. But I have to do what is best for her, and having the run of a house and someone to love her all day long will probably make her very happy. We'll see. I've told the woman that if Luna isn't happy, or if the cat drives her nuts, I will take Luna back. At least then I will know that I did everything I could. But I still haz a sad.

Luna on "her" stool. You can see the jar of treats where she got on the counter and knocked them onto the floor.
In non-cat news, look what I got from Berkley today!

ARCs fo Dangerously Charming!
Yes, that's a box of ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) of DANGEROUSLY CHARMING! I didn't know if they were going to do ARCs for this book or not (they tend to do them at the beginning of a new series, and I wasn't sure if they considered this a new series or a continuation of the Baba Yaga series). I was really pleased to see that they had the cover photo too, since a lot of ARCs are just a white cover with the title printed on it. And let's face it, the cover photo is pretty cool :-)

I guess I'm going to have to do another giveaway now, huh?

Who wants one?

Feline Friday: The Goofiness that is Angus

I know--it seems like a long time since we have had a Feline Friday! So to make up for it, I present the goofiness that is Angus.

You're welcome.

Happy Friday, and have a great weekend!

Feline Friday: The Cuteness that is Angus

It's Feline Friday time again! Since last week's FF got combined with some other things, and you only got one cute kitty picture, I'm going to make up for that this week by overwhelming you with the insanely over-the-top cuteness that is Angus Mac.

All my cats are cute, of course (at least when they're not destroying things or trying to beat the crap out of me, or stealing my food...). But Angus is just adorable. In fact, I am pretty sure he is sneaking adorable pills for breakfast when I'm not looking.

Don't believe me? This was one morning last weekend.

Samhain was not impressed, but he kept me entertained for about a half an hour. (He doesn't usually stay in one place that long...Angus has a very short attention span.)

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Happy Friday.

Feline Friday: The Terrible, Horrible Cold Version

This post is a little late because I have been fighting a terrible, horrible cold. Since last Saturday. And losing, I  might add. Blergh. Snuffle. Cough.

I'm not used to this, I might add. If I feel something coming on, I slam it with echinecea/goldenseal tincture, zinc lozenges, vitamin C, and LOTS of garlic, and I usually get rid of whatever it is in about 48 hours. This, apparently, is the Cold from Hell. Because I've had it for seven days, and it shows no sign of leaving. *shakes fist at cold*

Of course, it probably didn't help that I insisted on going to work earlier in the week, thinking I wasn't that sick (it was mostly just a really bad sore throat at that point). And helped tear up the kitchen floor. (Did I mention I have a new kitchen floor? But that's another post. Maybe tomorrow, if I'm less blergh than today.)

Ironically, I ended up taking yesterday and today off...the same days I would have taken off if I had been able to keep my original plans to fly out to California to see my family in San Diego, and then go to Pantheacon in San Jose. So while I am still disappointed I couldn't go this year, I am REALLY REALLY glad I wasn't traveling this week. Not only are my ears and head stuffed, which would have sucked on the plane, and not only do I feel horrible, but I sound like a 90 year old woman with a 3 pack a day habit, so I'm thinking that trying to give my presentations would have been...unpleasant for all involved. Just sayin'.

Anyway, that was Plan A. There was a Plan B, which has been moved to another week when I am not dying feeling like crap on a plate. This, apparently, is Plan C.
Lots of tissues, a reread of all my favorite humorous romance books by Lani Diane Rich (and when I run out of hers, probably Jennifer Crusie....I have a huge stack of unread paranormal romances and urban fantasies, some of them things I've been waiting for, but my brain just isn't up to the job at the moment...book comfort food, that's what I need). And Samhain, who very kindly sat on my lap much of the afternoon, but was understandably unimpressed when I wanted to take a picture of her with a bunch of used tissues.

Angus isn't very good at sitting still, bless him, so he resorted to his usual "Aren't I Cute?" poses to entertain me.

I don't know about you, but I feel better already. Kinda.
