SWAG!!!! GIVEAWAYS #1! The Witch's Broom

Okay, it is just possible I got a smidge carried away. (Ahem.) Just a teeny tiny bit. I know--how unusual for me.

The thing is, my next Llewellyn book, The Witch's Broom, is coming out in just over 2 months. The release date is April 8th. *bounce bounce bounce* Yes, this is not exactly the first book I ever had come out. Heck--it's actually the 7th. (Blinks. How is that possible?) But I really loved the way it turned out, and the cover is THE BOMB.
Seriously. How could you not like that? Even Magic the Cat approves, for obvious reasons. (No, it isn't a picture of her...the idea came from an old postcard image my fabulous editor Elysia Gallo found online. But if it makes the cat happy, who am I to argue?) And there seems to be A LOT of excitement from my readers about it, although I don't know whether that is due to the topic, the cover, or some other reason. (I heard a rumor that some people actually like my writing, but that can't be it.)

I always try and get something fun to do a giveaway contest or two with, leading up to the release date. Eventually, I'll also give away a book or two, but I won't have my copies for a while yet; they haven't even gone off the printer yet, as far as I know. And because this cover is So Damned Cool, I ordered a few extra things to give away. I might have gone a little overboard. What do you think?
I've got a ton of the business cards with a picture of the cover, and some matching postcards. They both say "Coming April 8th, 2014" at the bottom, and as you can see, the back of the postcard also has a picture of Magic the Cat. If you want one or both, email me at magicmysticminerva at yahoo and I'll be happy to send you one. If you happen to own a shop or a bookstore and want extras, just let me know. I have 100 of the business cards as magnets (between the mug and the notebooks)--if you want one of those, they will be given away first-come-first-served!

I'll also be sending a bunch of the cards, magnets, and postcards to Pantheacon with Elysia, held in San Jose in the middle of this month, so if you're there, look around for them.

Elysia will also have a few of the little broomstick refrigerator magnets you can see to the right. Here's a close up of them and the mug.
Aren't they COOL? I saw the origin on Etsy, where a woman named Willow Dancer makes all sorts of fun stuff at her shop, Willow Creek Herb Company on Etsy And she very kindly worked with me to come up with something special just for this book. Notice the little cat charm on the front of the broom. I will have a few of these to give away on the blog, and I'm sending a few of those with Elysia for Pantheacon, too. (I only got 25 of those, and a few are going to people like my editors, and my uber-researcher, Sierra.)

I only got two mugs, since they're pricier and harder to ship. Maybe I should start the giveaway with one of them? I also got two cool lined notebooks with the book cover on front. Maybe I should start with them?

Did I mention I might have gotten carried away?

Which is your favorite bit of swag? Tell me which things you like the best, and I will pick someone at random at the end of the day tomorrow (Thursday 6th) and send them whatever they picked out. (If you're outside of the USA, I will have to limit what I send to the small stuff...sorry.)

Please spread the word, both about the swag and the book itself. If you want to preorder the book, you can go here:
Amazon (Where the book is on a pre-release sale at $11.95!)
B&N (Also on sale!)
Llewellyn

So, do you think I got too carried away? And which is your favorite?

Love the broom magnet but that might be too big for sending all the way to Tulip land. Although...it's a broom. Can't it fly?

  39. Carried away? Yes. Too carried away? Is there such a thing? They are all fantastic pieces and I think you chose well, Grasshopper.

My faves are the little broom and the notebook, because I tend to collect notebooks. Hmm. Which probably suggests I should say I'm more interested in the business card magnets because I have a lot of notebooks! :) But definitely the little broom.

  42. Okay, just let me say...I want your BOOK a nice ARC (in print) would work. That would be my favorite. *clears throat nervously* But if I must choose from the yummy swag, I love the cover magnets, and the notebooks, and of course I love the mugs (I collect mugs), but they can't really be in the running since you only have two and thus, they are far too precious. You have awesome swag and I do NOT think you got carried away at all. The cover is wonderful and deserves such swag.

  66. I think there is no such thing as getting carried away ;)
Since I'm in Switzerland I say I like the smallest stuff. LOL
Else I'd say the notebooks, because I've a loooove for them and journalling and all that.

    ReplyDelete
  67. You know what they say (or at least I say it): Why do when you can overdo! There's really no such thing as getting TOO carried away. You wouldn't want to become blase and cynical about momentous events. I like the notebook! Probably because your book cover rocks and it appeals to the writer/doodler in me!

  68. Love the coffee mug :-) It seems I tend to get carried away with collecting them (and cookbooks- love cookbooks).

  69. Oh wow! I love all the stuff and I can't wait for your new book! I can't decide if I love the mug or the notebook the best. I love quirky coffee mugs. Luckily for my husband our kitchen is tiny and I have to be very picky about which ones I get. I would make room for this one. Maybe my daughter doesn't need so many plastic cups.....

    ReplyDelete
  70. Wow, the mug is toooo cute! I'm been a tea drinker lately... well and coffee too. And I know that sitting there sipping with that cup would make some people I know all jelly fish! Haha. But, the tiny brooms are awesome too. Do they have sent to them? I love herbal scented stuff.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Nope, no scent, Kim. I tend to be sensitive to such things, so I don't get them.

  71. All are very lovely. I really like the artwork. However, the tiny broom is too cute and is my favorite. I'm sorry to hear you will not be at Pantheacon. I first attended a few years ago and had the pleasure of participating in one of your workshops. I'm returning this year and will keep an eye out for your cards.

  72. I LOVE it ALL ! The little brooms are my favorite but it is all really cute. I will be mailing in for the postcards, I would like to give my oldest daughter several for her to use in a drawing. She does this at her highschool where she is the librarian. I hope to get her a copy of the book for the library also. My question is can I order two books directly from you so that you could sign them? I really can not wait to see this publication it looks like so much fun.

    1. Dana, When you send me the envelope, be sure to note that you need a couple of postcards and why. (If you don't want them to be bent, you will have to use an over-large envelope for me to return them to you.) Yes, once the books are out, I will figure out a way to put up a "buy a signed book" button :-)
