So some of you may have seen me talking on Twitter about a sekrit project that was a possibility... Well, I'm THRILLED to announce that illustrator Elisabeth Alba and I have just signed a contract with Llewellyn to create the Everyday Witch Oracle Deck! Can I get a woot? (And a bottle of champagne?)
Elisabeth and I had a great time when we worked together on the EVERYDAY WITCH TAROT
We had so much fun, in fact, that we've been looking for a project we could do together ever since--well, ever since we recovered, anyway. We finally had coinciding windows of time available and come up with the idea of doing an oracle deck along the same lines as the tarot deck. Oracle decks are smaller and simpler, and take no preparation or training to use. The deck will have 40 cards and a book that goes with it, written by yours truly.
Here's the sample card Elisabeth made up. Isn't it AMAZING?
Notice anything special about this witch? |
We are both incredibly excited to be able to announce this project. (And to get the band back together.) No release date yet, but probably some time in 2020.
To celebrate, I'm going to give away one copy of the Everyday Witch Tarot Deck! (Signed by me.)
Just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. And then you can join us in doing the happy dance to celebrate our good news. What do you think? Are you excited too?
How awesome!!! :)

ReplyDeleteI don't have the deck, but I think it would be great because I loved the book - so I imagine I'd love an oracle too! I actually don't have any oracle decks, but I think I'd use it more than the tarot decks I have that I don't use enough!
ReplyDeletedon't have it
ReplyDeleteI have the everyday tarot deck, it was a necessity and easy birthday gift from a friend. Oracle deck would be a new experience and is probably a necessity since the pair of you creating it.

ReplyDeletethat kitty looks like it's thinking of rocking the boat a bit, lol
ReplyDeleteAll these comments and no one answered the question under the picture of the card. Did they not see the question or not see the something special?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question--so has anyone figured out what's special about the witch in this picture?
DeleteIs it that she is a person of color? I had read that as a concern about the tarot deck. I love everything about this card!
DeleteYES! Yes she is, Dory! Elisabeth and I agreed that we wanted to make a conscious (conscious being the important word here) effort to make this deck even more inclusive than the last one, where we focused more on gender.
DeleteThat is beautiful, and this witch is also beautiful. As a school counselor, one of my personal missions is to encourage my students in rural Iowa to appreciate and embrace diversity. This decision you have made creates a healing path. Bravo!
DeleteThanks, Dory. Elisabeth and I were so focused on being gender-inclusive (including using some gender-neutral witches) that we somehow missed the bigger inclusive/diversity picture. You have no idea how appalled we were when someone pointed it out to us. (The fact that it HAD to be pointed out was the most appalling of all.) So yes, we definitely plan to remedy that this time around.
DeleteI would love an oracle deck and the Everyday Witch Tarot- everyone has positive comments on this deck!
ReplyDeleteI don't have this deck but I do have Animal Oracle deck, I use it just to pick a card now and again when I feel like I need a little guidance.
ReplyDeleteI have the Everyday Witch deck, and I use it frequently. The idea of an oracle deck for some daily inspiration is very exciting!!
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome...i have your tarot deck and will make sure to get the oracle deck
ReplyDeletethat is some beautiful artwork for this!
ReplyDeleteElisabeth does amazing work, doesn't she?
DeleteI'm so excited to be on this blog! I do not have the Everyday Witch tarot deck *yet* (key word) and overall am new on my journey and path of Paganism. I noticed the Witch in the artwork is a person of color, which is wonderful and inclusive. I was reading an article on another blog recently, The Hoodwitch, that many people outside of the Pagan community perceive practitioners as only white Caucasian females - so I think trying to illustrate the idea of its actual diversity is important. This artwork is a great step in doing that and makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, I started reading your books back in 2015 when I lived in Southern California, then discovered more of your work when I went back home to Phoenix, AZ. And now, living in Tacoma, WA I am still discovering your words and the connectivity in them. It's a powerful thing to find work that grounds you when you're someone who uproots and moves so much (as a military spouse, it happens) - just wanted to say thank you for all you do!
Yay! And welcome to the blog! (You should check out my Patreon too, since I'm doing monthly live witchcraft class there.)
Deleteexcited about this!
ReplyDeleteHi Deborah! Awesome and congrats! I do not have the Everyday Witch Tarot Deck YET, but I love studying and working with both Tarot and Oracle cards. Thanks for the contest!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping to win. I love the writing of Deborah Blake. Its like a friend talking to you though means of a book. The art work is just amazing too!
ReplyDeleteI love it! <3
ReplyDeleteIt's been many years since I was interested in a new tarot deck. Would love to work with this one.
