Remember, there is a different Baba Yaga protagonist in each book, so the Baba Yaga for Wickedly Wonderful looks completely different (as does her Chudo Yudo, a magical dragon disguised as a Very Large dog). Unlike the first book, which took place in upstate NY, this one takes place in CA, on the Monterey Bay.
Meet Beka and Chewie!
What do you think--do you love it as much as I do?
The book isn't out until December 2nd, but you can preorder now at Barnes and Noble and Amazon
Here's the book summary:
Are we excited yet? (I feel a giveaway coming on...)Known as the wicked witch of Russian fairy tales, Baba Yaga is not one woman, but rather a title carried by a chosen few. They keep the balance of nature and guard the borders of our world, but don’t make the mistake of crossing one of themThough she looks like a typical California surfer girl, Beka Yancy is in fact a powerful yet inexperienced witch who’s struggling with her duties as a Baba Yaga. Luckily she has her faithful dragon-turned-dog for moral support, especially when faced with her biggest job yetA mysterious toxin is driving the Selkie and Mer from their homes deep in the trenches of Monterey Bay. To investigate, Beka buys her way onto the boat of Marcus Dermott, a battle-scarred former U.S. Marine, and his ailing fisherman father. While diving for clues, Beka drives Marcus crazy with her flaky New Age ideas and dazzling blue eyes. She thinks he’s rigid and cranky (and way too attractive). Meanwhile, a charming Selkie prince has plans that include Beka. Only by trusting her powers can Beka save the underwater races, pick the right man, and choose the path she’ll follow for the rest of her life
Love it! She's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLove the cover!
ReplyDeleteI love this Cover, and am interested how the main character changes each time. Does it get difficult to do so? Will the two characters meet eventually? Are there more in the works for more Baba Yaga Characters? Also who is your cover artist? The artwork is amazing.
ReplyDeleteThere are more than one Baba Yaga, Ben--it is more of a job title than a person. There are three Babas in the USA, and I hope to do a book about the third one, Bella, too. (Fingers crossed.) The three Babas know each other well, and they actually are shown together in the prequel novella, WICKEDLY MAGICAL. I don't know the name of my cover artist, alas--that's something that Berkley takes care of. But he or she sure did a great job!
DeleteWow! This is stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is, isn't it, Mickie? Of course, it's no Circle, Coven & Grove :-)
DeletePretty Pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe look on her face...they say a picture is word a thousand words...and apparently so is an illustration...She is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMichele--She's almost too beautiful (the character is supposed to have clean, California girl good looks, kind of like Blake Lively, if you know who she is), but I love the cover anyway :-)
DeleteThat cover is perfect.
ReplyDeleteMy heart stopped for a minute cause I thought the first one had come out and I had missed it. Amazon told me otherwise. All your Baba Yagas with dates are safely on my to buy list now.
Not to worry, Judy--when the first one comes out, I promise I will be yelling so loudly, you'll be able to hear it at your house :-)
DeleteBecause the two books are coming out back to back (Sept 2 and Dec 2) a lot of the prep is also happening more or less back to back.
I had the same reaction Judy did- How did I miss the first one?-lol this is beautiful- I love the choice of the purple to blend with that background and I just want to cuddle that big lug of a dragon ;)
ReplyDeleteWait until you "meet" the dragon-dogs in the books, Linda. They're two of my favorite characters in the series :-)
DeleteI hope they let me write book three, so I can do a giant dragon-cat!
It's gorgeous, you must be so pleased!
ReplyDeleteAnd what a great concept, really looking forward to reading them :)
Yes, I'm very lucky. Not only are the covers wonderful, but when I had a few issues with the original versions I was sent, my editor was as accommodating as she could be about changing the things I didn't like. I hope people like the covers enough to buy the books!
DeleteOMG! And I can say that because I'm from California. :-D I'll definitely be reading these.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, the cover is beautiful--but it was the description that did the selling job to me. It sounds like a fantastic read.
Thanks, Karysa! I hope everyone thinks so when the books come out :-)
DeleteNothing could beat the cover of number one, but two is gorgeous. And I misread the blurb as saying "rather an attitude carried by a chosen few" which seems kind of appropriate. :)
ReplyDeleteMary Anne in Kentucky
Har. That too.
DeleteLove it! Can't wait to read it!
ReplyDeleteThe cover gods are in your corner. Love this cover!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cover!
