Newsletter Fire HD Giveaway

Are you signed up to receive my newsletter? Because if you're not, I think you're going to want to be.

I don't send one out that often--maybe 4 or 5 times a year, and often they contain news you want to make sure you don't miss. Plus, this time (in a blatant ploy to get more people to sign up for the newsletter), I am doing a major giveaway in the newsletter itself. Here's a hint (and no, it isn't the cat):

Fire tablet giveaway,cat not included
Yes, that's an Amazon Fire Tablet. And yes, I'm giving one away to one lucky person, but only through the newsletter, which is coming out August 4th. (TWO MONTHS to the day before Dangerously Charming is released!) So you might want to fill out the form at the top left of this blog and sign up.

Just sayin'.

It's Fall, and That Means...

It's fall, and that means...

Mother Nature is putting on a beautiful show.

The hills behind my house. The view from my house is actually blocked by pine trees, so I have to walk next door to see it.

I'm getting the last of the harvest in and putting up pesto (before the basil gets frosted, since it is the most delicate thing in the garden) and applesauce (since my trees are loaded with apples this year).

Pesto ingredients and one small cat who is not allowed on the counter. Yes, that's Luna. Yes, she's still here. That's a discussion for another blog post. The lemon is my secret ingredient.

Finished pesto. Most of it will go into the freezer to bring a spark of summer glory in the midst of winter.

The apples on the right are Golden Delicious. The apples on the left are a mystery apple. The trees long predate my buying the house--14 years ago--and this tree never gave me apples until this year. Go figure.
And tearing down the garden. That means dismantling the pond fountain and filter (a slimy, wet, and unpleasant job), planting next year's garlic with the help of pal Ellen, and clearing and covering the beds.

Dying tomato plants on the left. They'll come out soon. Brussels Sprouts. More tomatoes to the right mixed in with the asparagus ferns which still have to be clipped back.

The pond

This guy was supervising.
Fall also means that it is time for another newsletter! If you haven't signed up yet, you should do it right away, since I'm hoping it will go out at the beginning of the week. There is going to be all sorts of fun news that my newsletter readers get to hear first. You can use the form at the top left of the blog, or this link: NEWSLETTER SIGNUP

I usually only send out about four newsletters a year (seasonally, more or less), although there may be a few extra in the coming months as the new books come out. Did you realize that it is only five weeks until VEILED MAGIC comes out on November 17th? Eek! If you want, you can preorder and it will be automatically delivered to you on the day! (It is an ebook only, but if you don't have an ereader, you can download a free app and read it on your computer.)

Also, be sure to check back here often in the next five weeks (or, you know, sign up to get email notifications when there is a new blog post) because I am about to go into SUPER GIVEAWAY MODE. And you don't want to miss what's coming up...

Happy fall! What's it like where you are?

Upcoming Newsletter with Contest!

I'm going to be putting out my (more or less) quarterly newsletter this coming Monday--are you signed up yet?

There are a couple of reasons why you might want to be. For one thing, I'm going to give my newsletter folks first look at the newest cover reveal, and a sneak peek at something new and different that's coming up. I almost always give important updates in the newsletters, so that way you don't have to worry about missing something if you don't happen to make it here to the blog.

However, I'm also doing something else to encourage people to start getting the newsletter: I'm going to be doing a contest that is ONLY available inside the newsletter itself! How fun is that?

I'm going to be giving away a $25 Amazon Gift Card, which one lucky winner will be able to use to buy MORE BOOKS! (Or whatever else he or she desires.)

If you haven't signed up for the newsletter yet, it is easy peasy to do so--just fill out the form on the top left of the blog (or you can sign up on my website too, but hey, you're here already, right?).

And don't forget to tell all your friends to sign up too. Maybe if one of them wins the gift card you can get them to share...

See you on Monday!

Newsletter going out with big news!

Just one last reminder that it is time for my fall newsletter...and boy, do I have some stuff to announce! Don't worry, if you don't feel like getting the newsletter, I'll announce everything here too...the newsletter folks will just get it first :-)

If you want to sign up, the quick form is at the top left of the blog.

OH BOY, NEWS!

(There might be an extra or two in the newletter, of course...like maybe a recipe or a ritual.)

Fall Newsletter Coming Soon!

It is almost time for my (coff) quarterly newsletter, which sometimes comes out three times a year. Anyway. I have a number of big things to announce, as well as a giveaway to celebrate them, so I'll be putting out a newsletter in the next week or so--maybe sooner, if I get the go-ahead to reveal my various bits of news. (Maybe a little later, if I have to wait for one.) And of course, I'll announce it all here too, but the folks who get my newsletter will find out first, about a day before I put it up everywhere else. If you want to make sure you don't miss the news, and you haven't signed up for the newsletter yet, just go to my website DEBORAH'S WEBSITE and click on the "sign up for newsletter" in the upper left corner. Don't worry--I'll never give your info away to anyone else! And as you can see, I don't send out the newsletters very often...

Since this newsletter will be coming out right before Samhain, I will probably include a few holiday related extras, like a recipe or two, and maybe a ritual...what do you think?

And don't forget to take the poll at the top of the page. Hint: it has something to do with one of my pieces of news.

Newsletter Time!

As some of you know, I put out a (theoretically) quarterly newsletter, to let everyone know what thrilling things I've been up to. Well, okay, there is hardly ever anything REALLY thrilling to report, but, hey, you never know.

Anyway, it is almost time for the spring edition of the newsletter, so if you want to receive it and you aren't signed up, you can go to my website and sign up at the bottom of the page.

Hey--what are you still doing here?! Go on, sign up! Tell all your friends to sign up! Tell your cat to sign up. (Really, Magic the Cat says so.)

And this time, there might even be some exciting news...just sayin'.

Guest Blog at FFnP

Hey all! It's a not-so-nice day here in upstate NY; cold, gloomy, and rainy.

But you can cheer me up by going to my guest blog at FFnP (Fantasy, Futuristic and Paranormal RWA chapter) and leaving me a nice comment. Pretty please?

http://ffnp.blogspot.com/2010/06/same-but-different.html

Thanks!

And the newsletter is FINALLY going out later today, so if you haven't signed up yet and you wanted to, run over to my website--quick! www.deborahblakehps.com

DONE! and Newsletter update

I'm happy to report that this morning I finished the edits on PENTACLES AND PREDATORS (Pentacles & Pentimentos #2) and sent it off to my agent, Elaine Spencer.

This is a good thing for a number of reasons:
1) Finished is good, just in general
2) I had been aiming at finishing it by the 1st of June and came dang close
3) I have alls sorts of other things that need to get worked on (if you saw my post on my writing to do list, you already know this!)
4) I expect us to sell the first book in the series any day now, and it will be good to have the second one done and ready to go.

I started this manuscript on March 7th, and finishing on June 2nd is right around the 3 month mark I was aiming at. And I'm really pleased with the way the book turned out. (My critique partner likes it too, lest you think I am completely deluded...)

In other news:
I am FINALLY, SERIOUSLY getting ready to send out my first newsletter. Yes, I know I have been saying this for a while, but THIS TIME I REALLY MEAN IT. I am a little embarrassed to admit that I am finally getting around to sending the sign-up invites to all the lovely folks who signed up to get the email while taking a workshop from me at Pantheacon in February. My apologies to everyone for my lateness. See notes on writing a book in three months, above :-)

If you are interested in getting the newsletter (which will probably only come out 3-4 times a year, and will contain info on new releases, contests, sales, etc.), please go to my website at www.deborahblakehps.com and sign up. I promise the thing will be done and out within the next two weeks!

Newsletter

I have been promising for some time (er...a year?) to start sending out a regular email newletter--probably on a quarterly basis, or so. This newletter would contain news about my writing: new releases (and coupon codes, when I have them), cover art, agent news, workshop dates, appearances, etc.

I am FINALLY getting around to doing this, so if you would like to receive this no doubt *fascinating* missive, please go to my website at www.deborahblakehps.com and register.

And yes, there will be some kind of giveaway involved, of course :-)

Hope to see you there!
