Birthday Bonanza Giveaway

My birthday is this week--Friday the 28th. I'm kind of in a funk, so not feeling terribly celebratory (nothing terrible, just life and stuff). It's my 57th (eek!) so not really a big deal. Other than a traditional lunch with a couple of friends, one of whom has a birthday on May 2nd so we always do a group thing, I'm not really observing it at all.

Which seemed kind of sad, so I decided to celebrate with all of you the same way I did last year: by giving away a gift to someone else!

Some people have asked me what I'd like as a gift. Pretty much what any author would like for his or her birthday, probably. Buy a book, or put up a nice review, or spread the word about a book you read that you liked. I admit, I'd love to see a spike in my book sales on my birthday :-) [Plus Berkley is about to make a decision on whether or not to contract for the 3rd Rider book, and it may not be going well, so a jump in book sales would be helpful.]

But it doesn't have to be my books. Buy any book by an author you like, even if it is just a .99 cent Kindle eBook. All book sales are a good thing. Review anyone's book; it doesn't have to be mine. Positive reviews help authors sell books, and as I might have mentioned, book sales are a good thing. (What can I say--I have a lot of friends who are authors too!) Or just tell someone about a book you read recently that you loved. Be pro-book, mine or anyone else's. Heck, go support your local library. That's what I want for my birthday. (Although cute cats and dragons are always on my list too...)

In the meanwhile, here's what I'm giving YOU for my birthday. A chance at one of three prize packs--winner's choice. With the help of Magic the Cat, I give you:

The Tarot Package
A signed tarot deck with a limited edition tin, plus a broom pen.

The Signed Book Package
A set of all three Baba Yaga books and the first Broken Riders book, all signed by me.

The Dragon Package
A cute stuffed dragon, a broom pen, and the signed book of your choice, fiction or nonfiction.

And really, you don't have to buy one of my books to help me celebrate, although you know I'd love that. Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below. As always, no purchase is necessary to enter, and you can get credit for things you have already done, like following the blog or following me on Twitter. Spread the word, since it's a party! I'm looking forward to spending the next year with all of you.

Birthday Not-Celebration Giveaway!

So, today, April 28th, is my birthday, and I'm not really celebrating.

Don't get me wrong--I have nothing against birthdays. Birthdays are cool. Turning 56 is a little yawnnnnnn... but mostly, I'm just not doing anything in particular, because, well, me.

For instance, my friend John is coming over tonight for a BBQ and to help me out in the garden because my twisted knee is still, you know, twisted. We'll hang out, eat yummy food, and watch a movie. But it doesn't have anything to do with my birthday. We would have done it anyway.

And the closest I came to getting myself a present was to spend money redoing my driveway. Yes, it is distinctly possible I suck at this. (pictures of driveway to follow)

Which is why the closest I am going to come to an actual celebration of my birthday is by giving away stuff to y'all. Just because that's the way I roll. I asked on Facebook if I should do a giveaway with a VEILED MAGIC theme, or a WICKEDLY POWERFUL theme, or one focused on the upcoming first Rider book, DANGEROUSLY CHARMING
and it was a tie between Veiled Magic and Dangerously Charming. (Thanks. Jeez.)

So here is the prize pack:

Birthday giveaway!
The first few pieces of Dangerously Charming swag, including a notebook and a postcard magnet, plus another notebook and a tote bag for Veiled Magic, and a broom pen just because.

In case you were wondering what I wanted for my birthday (I know you were), I'd really love to get a few more reviews for Veiled Magic and Wickedly Powerful. So if you've read them, pretty please? Let everyone else know that you liked them?

And now, happy my birthday to you!

Magic the Cat's Birthday Giveaway!

I can't believe it, but my "kittens" are turning 14! Yes, it is Magic the Cat (Queen of the Universe) and her brother Mystic's birthday on Monday the 11th. How could we not celebrate?

Weren't they adorable when they were babies?

Mystic thinks maybe you should all give him flowers. Or, you know, treats.

Magic is hard at work being my co-author and supervisor, even on her birthday.

That's mom Minerva in the background, probably also thinking, "How can they be 14?!"
I got Magic, Mystic, and their mom Minerva from a local shelter (14 years ago this coming March, since the kittens were about 8 weeks old when I brought them and mom home). Best thing I ever did.

Do you have rescue kitties? (Or dogs?) Do you celebrate your animals' birthdays, if you know which day they are? Feel free to wish Magic and Mystic a happy birthday. If you read the Llewellyn books, you can also tell Magic which one of the ones she co-wrote (all the A-Z books) you liked best.

Here's the giveaway prize! This one only runs for a couple of days, since we have to get back to talking about the upcoming Baba Yaga novella and book. (Snort.)

Tote bag, stuffed black kitty, Magic the Cat magnet!
Happy birthday, babies!

55th Birthday 5 Book Giveaway!

I find it a bit hard to believe, but I am turning 55 this coming Tuesday. Good grief. How time flies when you've been having...well, whatever this is.

I plan to do a nice deep philosophical post on turning 55. But to keep you amused until I get to it, I figured I'd celebrate with another giveaway. Yes, I realize that most people get presents for their birthdays, but I'd rather give them. And since I am turning 5-5, I thought it only fitting to give away 5 signed books! (Each one may also come with some kind of goodie...a bookmark, a broom pen, whatever I'm in the mood for that day.) I'll announce the winners next Tuesday, on The Day.

I will be giving away THREE copies of the new Llewellyn book, Everyday Witchcraft: Making Time for Spirit in a Too-Busy World and one copy each of the novels, Wickedly Dangerous and Wickedly Wonderful

DO NOT wish me a happy birthday yet (grin).

If you want to give me a present, you can pick one or both of my favorite entry options: Post a new review of one of my books (if you posted one before, thank you SO much, but it doesn't count for the purposes of this contest--although you can certainly take a previous review and post it in a new place--Amazon, B&N, or Goodreads for instance) AND/OR buy a book. Obviously, it would be nice if you bought one of mine. But if there is some other author whose book is on your list, buy that. Just buy a book, any book. This makes me happy. (If you can't afford to buy one, go get one out of the library! And while you're there, feel free to suggest that they get my books, if they don't have them.)

Or you can pick any of the other options, of course, including telling me what you would give me for a birthday gift, if you could give me anything in the world.

Of course, I already have the best gift there is--all of you. Thank you so much for spending at least part of the last year with me. I look forward to the next one...
