Yuletide Greetings and Tiny Treasures

Happy Yule, Happy Chanukah, and Merry Christmas! I can’t believe another year is coming to an end. Thank you all for spending at least part of it with me. I appreciate my friends, fans, and readers more than I can say, and I wish you all a wonderful holiday, no matter how you celebrate.

I will be hosting my yearly Yule dinner party on the 21st for Blue Moon Circle, family, and friends. I look forward to it all year long. And now I have something else to celebrate too—the release of a new short collection of short-short stories set in the world of the Baba Yagas and the Riders!

This project wasn’t something I had planned on doing, but I was chatting with one of my author friends a few months ago and that conversation made me think of a few little short-short stories I had posted over the years at the Literary Escapism blog as part of the promotion for the fabulous Coastal Magic Convention. I knew that most people hadn’t ever had a chance to read them.

Then I was talking about them to Crystal Sarakas, who sometimes acts as my virtual assistant, and she said, “I know you’re in the middle of your crazy busy season, and I almost hate to even suggest this, but would you consider writing a new story to add to these?” (Then she ducked.) It really was crazy, but I loved the idea. And when I said, “What about a Chudo-Yudo story?” she jumped up and down and squeeed. Then we went looking for the perfect cover, and I found the one above, by cover artist Lindsay Tiry, and it inspired the story of the same name as the collection title. Three of the stories are centered around Yule, so this seemed like the perfect time to put this tiny collection out as a gift to my faithful readers. Consider it my thank you to your sticking with me and the Baba Yagas for all this time.

The book is out in digital format as of today, and will be available in paperback (a small one, called a chapbook—it will be pretty skinny!) as soon as we can get it set up. I hope you enjoy these little treasures, especially the new one.

Find the book here: https://amzn.to/2Ma5DKT

Of course, because I’m me, I’m doing a big giveaway to celebrate the mini-collection’s release. It includes a Kindle Fire 7 tablet, a signed copy of the last novella (Dangerously Driven), and a stuffed dragon in honor of the new Chudo-Yudo story. Check it out!

While you’re checking things out, you might want to swing by my Etsy store, if you still need some (really) last minute gifts for the reader or witchy type on your list (or for yourself). I’ve got signed books, my gemstone jewelry, and some magical gift sets, among other things. https://www.etsy.com/shop/deborahblake

Thank you again for taking this journey with me…my peeps are the best.

Wishing you all a blessed Winter Solstice and a happy New Year. May the year to come be filled with joy.

Blessings,
Deborah

P.S. Diana has settled in really well, and sends her love, along with the rest of the Wild Bunch.

To enter the contest, just fill out this Rafflecopter form. As always, no purchase is necessary (although of course I'd love it if you bought the new mini-book).

Wickedly Unraveled Book Release Day

If you’ve been waiting for the next book in the Baba Yaga series, the wait is over! Yes, today is release day for WICKEDLY UNRAVELED. I hope you’re as excited as I am.

This book is based on an idea I submitted a couple of years ago, when the Baba Yaga series was still being published by Berkley. But when they decided not to continue with the series, I figured it would never get written. Then I self-published the final Broken Riders book, DANGEROUSLY FIERCE, followed by a novella (Dangerously Driven) and it turned out that my readers wanted more. Yay for my readers! My readers rock.

I loved writing this book because I got to return not just to the world of the Baba Yagas, but specifically to Barbara Yager, who I confess was my favorite of them all (shhhh, don’t tell the others). When I told my agent that I wanted to write about Barbara again, she said, “You can’t do another book about a character who has already gotten her happily ever after…a married one to boot. That just won’t work in romance.” Then she saw what I had figured out, and basically called me an evil genius. Snicker.

Here’s the back cover copy:

The Baba Yagas have incredible power, but even that may not be enough to save their world when magic goes horribly wrong and all their happily ever afters are gone in an instant.
Barbara Yager is used to traveling alone as she tends to her duties as a Baba Yaga. She sometimes brings Babs, the adopted daughter she is training, but her sheriff husband stays behind. This trip, though, she has made an exception. After all, the task seems so simple, and shouldn’t take long to accomplish. When it is done, the three of them can indulge in a long-overdue family vacation. What could it hurt?
Quite a lot, as it turns out. What Barbara thought was a minor problem ends in a violent magical confrontation she never expected. The resulting backlash sends them all into a warped timeline where Barbara and Liam never got together, and only Barbara and nine-year-old Babs remember the truth. Liam is still trapped in his grief and all the good they’ve done together in the past few years has come undone.
Even worse, her Baba Yaga sisters, Beka and Bella, don’t believe her, and the wicked Brenna is still out there, planning who knows what kind of mischief. The children stolen by the rusalka Maya are trapped in the Otherworld and she is loose in this one and up to no good. It is up to Barbara, Babs, and their faithful dragon-dog companion Chudo-Yudo to knit together the unraveled timeline and make things right again, before it is too late and Barbara loses her one true love forever.

Will Barbara get her happily ever after back again? You’ll have to read the book to find out! It’s available in both print (Amazon only) and eBook from all the usual online retailers, and you can also request that your library or local Indy bookstore get a copy.

Of course, because I’m me, I’m doing a huge giveaway to celebrate!

Welcome back to the world of the Baba Yagas—I hope you have as much fun reading WICKEDLY UNRAVELED as I had writing it.

COVER REVEAL

Ta da! I have a cover reveal for the next Baba Yaga book, Wickedly Unraveled.

This book features Barbara Yager, the Baba Yaga from the first book in the series, Wickedly Dangerous (she was always my favorite...don't tell the others). It was tricky to do the cover, since the first one came out from Berkley and this one is being self-published--which meant I had to use a different cover model. Luckily, I was able to find one who looked pretty close. Believe it or not, it was harder to match the dog!

Thankfully, I was able to work with the same cover artist who did Dangerously Fierce and Dangerously Driven (the Rider book and novella), so she already had a sense of how the covers for the series were supposed to look, and I knew we worked well together. (Su, from Earthly Charms, in case you were wondering.) It took us a few tries, but this is what we finally came up with. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Note: I'm not sure exactly when the book will be out. Revisions are finished and it is off to my copy editor. Once I've made any needed changes, the book will have to be formatted and uploaded. But hopefully less than a month!

DANGEROUSLY FIERCE Release Day Giveaway Extravaganza

It's here! It's out today! What am I shouting about? DANGEROUSLY FIERCE, of course. This is the third book in the Broken Riders series, a spinoff of the Baba Yaga series. Berkley put out the first three book in series one and the first two in series two, but then I lost my contract, which meant that my faithful readers weren't going to get Alexei's story. I couldn't have that, could I? So I wrote it and self-published it (with the help of multiple brilliant first readers, a new cover artists, and the amazing Sierra Newburn, who did all the file conversions and uploading).

Didn't the cover come out well?
And here it is! To celebrate, I'm doing a HUGE release day giveaway extravaganza. I hope you'll all help me to spread the word (both about the book release and the giveaway)--if this experiment is successful, I might even write another Baba Yaga or Riders book/novella/short story. We'll have to see how it goes. I hope you're as excited as I am!

Because so many people love this series so much, I've decided to do a multiple winner giveaway, and spread the love around. Here's what we've got:

The Grand Prize: A Kindle Fire 7 (with Alexa...I'm not sure how they fit her in that little box). It's red!

Plus Prize #2
A large tote bag (for all your books, of course) and a notebook with the cover on them

Prize #3
Signed copies of two of the few remaining ARCs (advanced reader copies) of Dangerously Charming and Dangerously Divine, the first two books in the series, plus a fun dragon. (There are a LOT of dragons in Dangerously Fierce...)

Limited edition ARCs!
 Prize #4
Signed copies of the mass market versions of both Dangerously Charming and Dangerously Divine, plus the last of the cool key chains I had made for Dangerously Charming promo, and one small and one large magnet.

I love these key chains, don't you?
Plus all the winners will get these great bookmarks, a postcard, and a magnet.

To enter, just fill in the Rafflecopter form below. As always, no purchase is necessary and you get credit for anything you've done already, like sign up for my newsletter.

If you want to run right out and buy the book, here are some links. It will be available in both eBook AND print form, although right now Amazon is the only one with the print version available. I'll let you know when the print versions are available elsewhere. (There was a tiny glitch with Amazon, so right now there are different links for print and for eBook. We hope to get that fixed soon.)

ALL THE LINKS:
Kobo - https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/dangerously-fierce

(Before you ask, no, I won't be putting it out in audiobook form. I know people love those, but they're very expensive to produce, alas.)

Don't forget that the most helpful thing you can do for an author besides buying the book is to review it and spread the word...assuming you like it, of course.

Dangerously Divine is Coming Giveaway

I can't believe it! DANGEROUSLY DIVINE will be out in less than a month! Release day is November 28th. Whoo hooo! I hope you are all as excited as I am to *finally* get to see the second book in The Broken Rider series out in the world. (The first one, DANGEROUSLY CHARMING, came out over a year ago, in October, and this one was supposed to be out in March this year, but got pushed back by the publishing company due to scheduling issues. So if it seems like there has been a long gap, you're not imagining things.)

Ta da!
The Broken Riders series is a spin-off from the Baba Yaga series, and follows the three Riders introduced in those books. DANGEROUSLY CHARMING, the first in the series, was Mikhail's story. DANGEROUSLY DIVINE follows the adventures of his brother Gregori Sun, the Red Rider. I had a lot of fun writing this book, which is set in Minnesota. (Fun fact: that's where my witchcraft book publisher, Llewellyn, is located, so I was able to pick the brain of my nonfiction editor for info for my fiction.) I really adore Gregori, although he isn't as flashy as his two brothers. Who is your favorite?

Here's what it is all about. (And don't believe the weird glitch in the listing Amazon has under their rankings. There are no vampires in the book. Oy.) Just in case you need to catch up, I'm going to give away a copy of the first book

The Riders: Three immortal brothers who kept the Baba Yagas safe, now stripped of their summons to protect. But fate is not finished with them—and their new callings are even more powerful...

Though his physical wounds have healed, Gregori Sun, the eldest of the Riders, remains in spiritual turmoil. His search for his mother, the one person able to heal his soul and save his life, is failing—until he crosses paths with a beautiful and fascinating librarian who might be the key to his salvation...

Ciera Evans’s bookish ways are just a guise. The product of a difficult past, she has dedicated her life to saving lost teens—by any means necessary. She works alone, but when a dark, brooding stranger proposes they team up to solve both their problems, she is tempted—in more ways than one...

After Ciera and Sun’s plans are derailed by dangerous enemies, they find themselves entangled in an ungodly affair—one that will force them to either find new strength together or be forever haunted by their pasts alone.

Just in case you need to catch up, I'm going to give away a copy of the first book, PLUS an ARC (advanced reader copy) of the new one! Plus, I have a couple of those cute key rings I had made for Dangerously Charming, so I'm going to throw one of those in too. Let's get this party started.

Two books, a key chain, and a few extra goodies

Only 3 of these left!

You might have to fight Magic for this one. She seems to think it is a cat toy.
As always, just use the Rafflecopter form below. You get credit for anything you do already (like following me on Twitter and signing up for my newsletter) and extra credit for leaving a comment, or a few other things. (Just as a note: Dangerously Charming hasn't had a review in EIGHT MONTHS! Sniffle. So if you read it and liked it, I'd be forever grateful if you'd pop over to Amazon, Goodreads, or B&N and leave a quick review. It doesn't have to be long or fancy.) No purchase necessary.

Although I'll be pretty happy if you preorder the book, of course.
