COVER REVEAL

I got the finalized cover for my upcoming Llewellyn book, THE EVERYDAY WITCH'S COVEN: RITUALS AND MAGIC FOR TWO OR MORE and I just had to share it with you!

Isn't it amazing?! Of course, I'm not surprised by how much I love it, since the artist is none other than our own Elisabeth Alba, who did the illustrations for both the Everyday Witch tarot and oracle decks.

The book will be out in January 2023. I can't wait to see what this cover looks like on the actual book.

What do you think? Do you love it?

I can finally share the cover for the first in my new cozy mystery series coming in February from Berkley Publishing.

I hope you love it as much as I do! Be sure to tell me what you think.

COVER REVEAL

Ta da! I have a cover reveal for the next Baba Yaga book, Wickedly Unraveled.

This book features Barbara Yager, the Baba Yaga from the first book in the series, Wickedly Dangerous (she was always my favorite...don't tell the others). It was tricky to do the cover, since the first one came out from Berkley and this one is being self-published--which meant I had to use a different cover model. Luckily, I was able to find one who looked pretty close. Believe it or not, it was harder to match the dog!

Thankfully, I was able to work with the same cover artist who did Dangerously Fierce and Dangerously Driven (the Rider book and novella), so she already had a sense of how the covers for the series were supposed to look, and I knew we worked well together. (Su, from Earthly Charms, in case you were wondering.) It took us a few tries, but this is what we finally came up with. I hope you like it as much as I do!

Note: I'm not sure exactly when the book will be out. Revisions are finished and it is off to my copy editor. Once I've made any needed changes, the book will have to be formatted and uploaded. But hopefully less than a month!

Cover Reveal! Everyday Witch Oracle Deck

As many of you know, illustrator Elisabeth Alba and I have been working on The Everyday Witch Oracle Deck, which will be out on September 8th from Llewellyn. We had such a blast working on the Everyday Witch Tarot (which, incidentally, I just saw was on sale on Amazon for only $19.82 instead of its usual list price of $29.99) that we just had to find another project to work on together. If anything, this one was even more fun!

One of the best parts is being able to do the cover reveal. Llewellyn picked two cards that were both of our favorites, so we're especially excited. So with no further ado...

The kit cover:

The book cover:

And here is a picture of the back of the cards. Four cats, each representing one of the four elements. Which one is your favorite?

And as a bonus, a picture of Elisabeth with all forty finished original paintings!
(If you look closely at her, you will see that she is busy creating something else...a little human being. Whoo hoo!)

We are both so proud of this deck, and we can't wait for it to come out. We hope you'll all love it too. What do you think of the covers?

COVER REVEAL! Dangerously Driven

Here it is, the cover reveal for the new Riders reunion novella! I used the same cover artist who did the amazing cover for the third Riders novel, DANGEROUSLY FIERCE. You can find her website HERE

I think she did a great job--I hope you do too. The novella is finished and I'm just waiting for the last feedback from editors and First Readers. Hopefully it will be out in the next week or two. Watch this space!

With no further ado, I give you, the cover of DANGEROUSLY DRIVEN.

A BIG Announcement

So, I have some bad news and I have some good news.

The bad news is that Berkley, who published all of my fiction series, has decided not to contract for the third Broken Rider book. Publishing is a numbers game, and the numbers from the previous books just weren’t good enough to justify putting out the third one. This isn’t something I take personally—you’d be amazed how many of my author friends, many of them better writers and more popular than I am, have lost their contracts in the last year. The third book in the Veiled Magic series, Veiled Enchantments, will be out in March, and that’s the last of the books from Berkley, at least for now.

I’ve actually known about this for some time, although I haven’t talked about it online. And the good news is that I decided that there was no way I was going to leave my readers hanging—so I wrote Alexei’s story anyway. Surprise!

I’ve been quietly working on it (this is the unnamed project I’ve mentioned a few times) over the last four months, and I will be self-publishing it sometime soon; probably in the next couple of weeks. I’ll be sure to let you know when it is live. It will be available as an ebook pretty much everyplace, and as a print book from Amazon. I even found a great cover artist who was able to come up with a cover that matched the first two in looks, although it was impossible to get quite the right “Alexei.” (Sadly, Jason Momoa wasn’t available to pose…)

Here’s the cover—what do you think?

Cover by Earthly Charms

I’m a little sad to be putting out the last of the books in this world, which I’ve really enjoyed writing in, but at least those of you who have been following the series from the beginning will be able to get the ending to the story.
Of course, I do have a few more ideas, so if this one is successful enough, you never know, I might decide to self-publish another one…so perhaps this isn't the end at all.

Here’s the blurb for the book:

The Riders: Three legendary brothers who kept the Baba Yagas safe. The Riders’ immortality was stripped away, along with their mission. But they are still much more than Human, and their story is far from over…

His brothers may have found new paths to follow, but Alexei Knight isn’t even looking. If he can’t have the life he was meant to lead, there is no second choice. So he is bent on drinking and brawling his way across the country until he winds up on Cape Cod in a bar called The Hook and Anchor, where he finds challenges he was never expecting, a feisty red-haired bartender, and maybe a lot more than that…

Bethany McKenna left behind an almost-completed law degree to return home and care for her cranky disabled father and run his bar for him. If that wasn’t enough, she also agreed to foster a very pregnant Great Dane. She has enough to deal with without adding in a giant bearded brawler, no matter how appealing he is. Yet somehow he ends up living in the guesthouse, taking care of her father, and sneaking his way into her heart…

Alexei and Bethany both think the lives they wanted have come to an end, but after dealing with a mysterious sea monster, pirates, dragons, and some adorable puppies, they might just discover that love is the greatest adventure of all…

I’ve had so much fun writing this book, which I think of as a gift for all those who have been taking this journey with me. I hope you enjoy Alexei’s story.

Who is looking forward to the book, now that you know it is coming out?

Cover Reveal!

In more cheerful news, I have the cover for THE LITTLE BOOK OF CAT MAGIC, coming out from Llewellyn on October 8th. (No buy links yet, but they should go live soon, and I'll be sure to come here and add them.)

What do you think? Does that black cat remind you of anyone?

I had a lot of fun writing this one, and it is going to be my first HARDCOVER book, so I am pretty excited!

COVER REVEAL! Wickedly Spirited

I'm so excited! I can finally share the cover up the upcoming Baba Yaga novella, WICKEDLY SPIRITED! The novella will be out September 19th, and features Bella's protege Jazz, who we first met in Wickedly Powerful. I had so much fun writing this one, and I hope you enjoy reading it. (It's only available as an eBook because of its length, but on the bright side, it is only $1.99!) The novella is up for preorder now. Just sayin'.

And with no further ado, here is the cover! Look, Koshka the dragon disguised as a giant Norwegian Forest Cat is on it too.

If you need to catch up with the Baba Yaga series, now is your chance! I'll be putting up a giveaway in the next couple of days...I haven't decided exactly what is going to be in it, but there will definitely be a signed copy of Wickedly Powerful. So be sure to check back.

Here are some buy links for Wickedly Spirited:

So, what do you think of the cover?

Good News Giveaway Post!

It seems like I'm spending a lot of time these days dealing with bad news, and trying not to spend too much time ranting on Facebook and Twitter :-) So I'm happy to have a bunch of good things to talk about. So happy, I'm doing a giveaway to celebrate. Some of you may have seen some of this stuff on Facebook, but I'm rounding it all up here today.

I have not one but TWO book cover reveals! One from Berkley for VEILED MENACE, the second book in the Veiled Magic series, coming out on April 18th (less than two  months away!) and up for preorder now.

I love it, don't you? Here's the blurb about the book:

Since Witches came out of the broom closet in the early twenty-first century, they have worked alongside humans as police officers, healers, stock traders, and more. But they aren’t the only paranormal entities in our world…

Witch and police officer Donata Santori is no stranger to magical mayhem, but lately her life has been unexpectedly charmed. Her job as a Ghost Yanker now includes the occasional paranormal investigation, and she’s advancing her magical abilities with the help of an ancestor’s treasured spell book. And while both of her former love interests—reclusive half-Dragon art forger Peter Casaventi and disgraced Shapechanger Magnus Torvald—are nowhere to be found, she’s not averse to being wined and dined by wealthy businessman Anton Eastman.

But Eastman isn’t what he seems, and what he wants from Donata is far more than she’s willing to give. When a mysterious relic, the Pentacle Pentimento, resurfaces, along with Peter’s Dragon father and a shocking Santori family secret, Donata must fight to save herself, her friends, and just maybe the fate of the world from a magic as old as it is dangerous…

The second cover reveal is for my next Llewellyn book, coming out October 8th. A Year and a Day of Everyday Witchcraft is part devotional, part book of shadows, and all fun.

Here's the blurb for that one (also available for preorder...just sayin').
Connect with your witchy self every day using small, easy, and fun practices. This book features quick and meaningful ways to integrate witchcraft into your daily life, inspiring you to take your magick to a new level whether you’re a beginning or experienced practitioner.
Deborah Blake guides you on a journey through the Wheel of the Year, providing witchy wisdom, affirmations, spells, questions to ponder, and much more. From connecting with nature to connecting with deities, A Year and a Day of Everyday Witchcraft explores a variety of modern Pagan practices to help you get more in touch with your personal path of witchcraft.
That cat looks to me like he is about ready to get into some trouble...there's something a little dangerous in his eyes.

Speaking of dangerous, DANGEROUSLY CHARMING is up for a couple of awards! How cool is that? The first Rider book is in the finals for "Favorite SF/Fantasy/Futuristic Romance at the Australian Romance Readers Awards (I love my Aussie readers!) and also as "Best Paranormal Romance of 2016" at RT Book Reviews (formerly Romantic Times). That second one is HUGE in the field of romance writing, and I am thrilled just to be nominated.

I've also decided that I'm going to go to the RWA National Convention in Orlando this July, and found out I'll be rooming with the fabulous Maria V. Snyder. So that's one more thing to look forward to. I hope I'll see a few of you there. Be sure to tell me if you're going.

With VEILED MENACE out in less than two months, it is obviously time to start celebrating! Are you with me? I have a few VEILED MAGIC goodies left over, including a totebag, a notebook, and a couple of small things, like one of my favorite witch broom pens. As usual, all you have to do to enter is fill out the Rafflecopter form below. And yes, you get credit for things you have already done, like following the blog or following me on Twitter.

Of course, what I'd really love is for people to preorder the books, and put up reviews, and such. But I'm way too dignified to beg. WAY too dignified. *snort* So go ahead, just enter the contest and have fun. (Although if you want to do those other things too...)

Magic the Cat approves of this giveaway.

Good news for everyone!

COVER REVEAL! Dangerously Divine

DANGEROUSLY DIVINE is the second in the Broken Rider series, and features the eldest of the three Riders, Gregori Sun. It won't be out until November 2017, alas, but in the meanwhile, here's this to hold you over. I think they did a pretty good job of making Sun look the way he was in my head. (If you're looking for the longer hair and Fu Manchu mustache mentioned in the earlier books, they're gone, because Reasons.) The story takes place in Minnesota in winter, as you can see.

So, what do you think? Do you love it as much as I do?

He IS dangerously divine, isn't he? And they even got his red Ducati on the cover!

Tarot Cover Reveal and Giveaway!

As many of you know, I have been working on a tarot deck for Llewellyn, along with illustrator Elisabeth Alba. It is an insanely long and complicated process, and the deck won't be out until January 2017 (and it isn't even up for preorder yet)...but we finally have COVERS to share with you, and we couldn't wait!

Here is the cover for the set (on the outside of the box). The card they used here is Judgement.

Here is the cover for the book I wrote, which will come with the deck. The card they used for this one is the The High Priestess.

And here is what the back of the cards will look like. I LOVE this design!!! Isn't Elisabeth's art fabulous?

What do you think? I hope you're as excited as we are.

Of course, I can't do a giveaway to celebrate, because the cards aren't out yet...or can I? (Bwahahahaha...)

If you've read some of the earlier posts about the creation of the deck, you might already know that when I was writing the book, I bought a bunch of other tarot kits for research. So I'm going to give away one of those--a cool card and book kit called Tarot for Everyone. It came out in 2008 and it isn't even available anymore, so I suppose you could consider it a collector's item. (The kit is open, of course, since I looked at it while I was working on my book.)

As always, all you have to do to enter is use the Rafflecopter form. [No purchase necessary, not associated with Facebook in any way, yada yada yada.]

Tell me--do you own one or more tarot decks already? Are you excited about this one?

COVER REVEAL: Dangerously Charming!

As if this week wasn't going to be exciting enough, with WICKEDLY POWERFUL coming out on Tuesday, I got the new cover for DANGEROUSLY CHARMING, the first of the Riders books. It's being marketed as a new trilogy, but don't worry, they are a continuation of the Baba Yaga series, and the Babas will appear in the stories. It is just that each of the Riders will get his own book. Mikhail Day is up first.

Dangerously Charming won't be out until October 4th (although believe it or not, it is already up for preorder, at least on Amazon) but I figured you'd like to see the cover now anyway. Am I right?

As an author, you always have to worry that the art department, wonderful folks that they are, won't get the character on the cover looking like your own personal image of him or her. I'm happy to say that the lovely folks at Berkley did a great job. I love this cover. What do you think?

Cover Reveal and Giveaway!

When I was in Cape Cod recently with my extended family, we did a rainy day shopping blitz and one of the things I picked up was a fun dish towel with a mermaid on it, because it reminded me of the mermaids in WICKEDLY WONDERFUL, the second novel in the Baba Yaga series.

Which in turn reminded me that I'd promised to give away the cool lapis mermaid necklace I'd made in honor of the book. Do you remember this?

Mermaid necklace!

Mermaid close up
And here's the fun towel:
I kinda want to keep it for myself. But I won't.
But of course, I'd need to have an excuse for the giveaway. You know, something to celebrate and shout about. Luckily, just as I was thinking that, my lovely editor Leis emailed me with the final cover for WICKEDLY EVER AFTER, the next novella in the series. The third book, WICKEDLY POWERFUL won't be out until February 2nd, 2016 (don't worry, that's closer than you think) but the novella will be out a few weeks earlier, on January 16th! (And yes, since you asked, they are both available for pre-order now. You're welcome.)

I had a blast writing Wickedly Ever After, because it let me visit my first (and favorite) of the Baba Yagas, Barbara, and check in to see what was happening with her and Liam and little Babs. Of course, things aren't going quite as smoothly as she'd hoped...

Here's the blurb for the story:

Having triumphed over a powerful enemy and ended up with both a wonderful guy—Sheriff Liam McClellan—and an adorable adopted daughter to raise as a Baba Yaga, Barbara Yager is ready to welcome her happily ever after. But first she must bring Liam to the Otherworld and get the Queen’s permission to marry him. The Queen, however, is not so easily persuaded. She gives them three impossible tasks to complete in two weeks’ time—and if they fail Barbara will have to watch Liam slowly age and die like all humans, and kiss her happily ever after good-bye forever.
And here's the COVER REVEAL!!!

I love that it shows a bit of Barbara's attitude, because goodness knows, she's got plenty of that!

Now, here's the giveaway I promised you! Tell me, what do you think of the cover? Are you looking forward to the novella? The novel? Both?

Addendum: Yes, this one is open to everyone, international too!
