Magic the Cat's Birthday Giveaway!

I can't believe it, but my "kittens" are turning 14! Yes, it is Magic the Cat (Queen of the Universe) and her brother Mystic's birthday on Monday the 11th. How could we not celebrate?

Weren't they adorable when they were babies?

Mystic thinks maybe you should all give him flowers. Or, you know, treats.

Magic is hard at work being my co-author and supervisor, even on her birthday.

That's mom Minerva in the background, probably also thinking, "How can they be 14?!"
I got Magic, Mystic, and their mom Minerva from a local shelter (14 years ago this coming March, since the kittens were about 8 weeks old when I brought them and mom home). Best thing I ever did.

Do you have rescue kitties? (Or dogs?) Do you celebrate your animals' birthdays, if you know which day they are? Feel free to wish Magic and Mystic a happy birthday. If you read the Llewellyn books, you can also tell Magic which one of the ones she co-wrote (all the A-Z books) you liked best.

Here's the giveaway prize! This one only runs for a couple of days, since we have to get back to talking about the upcoming Baba Yaga novella and book. (Snort.)

Tote bag, stuffed black kitty, Magic the Cat magnet!
Happy birthday, babies!

  1. Absolutely rescue black cats and celebrate birthdays, plus adoption days. Any reason for more treats and more photos.

  2. Peej here, wishing two very enchanting cats a wonderful birthday!

p.s. Black cats are my favorite, and tuxedo cats are pretty much a very close runner up. I have two tuxedo cats, and one black cat!

Schmutzy Purrkowski, Big Chief Many Toes, and Buster McGee all wish you many happy returns!

  3. Of our current kitty cluster four of them were off-the-street rescues (Ronon Dex, Kismet, Angel and most recently Binx)and our recently departed Miss Kitty (December) was one too. I swear the Universe just drops felines at our house like Dorothy's house got dropped in Oz!

We celebrate birthdays if we know them of our non-rescue kitties (we inherited them) or days we took the kitties in of our strays.

I've loved all the books that you've written or co-written with Magic and hope she co-offers another one in the future.

  4. I do dog rescue, and unfortunately I don't know my dogs birthdays, but I always tell the adopters that they day that they adopt the dog should be the dog's new birthday, as that is the start of their new lives together.

  7. Happy Birthday Kitties!! May you have many great gifts and more birthdays to come!

I have a rescue Yorkie. I purchased him from an abusive home (his former mom liked him, but his former dad did NOT). My Oyo (who was also given a HORRID name in his past life. We got rid of it right away.) would show his displeasure at being abused by pooping in his former father's shoes. His little bones have protrusions on them from being damaged from the kicks he received. I got him at three months; it's a miracle he was still alive.

We also have a Llasa, Pit bull, chihuahua mix that we rescued as a puppy. He's super smart and major adorable.

Happy Birthday again and best wishes to the kitty mommy!

    1. You're my hero! So many rescues. Kitty mommy is not feeling well, alas, and had to go to the vet this morning. We're hoping she feels better by tomorrow :-(
