Baba Yaga Book 3 -- Finished!!!! (Giveaway)

I just finished writing the first draft of the third Baba Yaga book, WICKEDLY POWERFUL. Booyah! This one was more of a struggle than usual for a number of reasons (including the serious side-tracking that came with my step-daughter Jenn's mom Jo having a massive heart attack in March) but it is finally done, done, done! I had to stop in the middle and redo the entire front end because it had Issues, but I think shaped up pretty well in the end. I sent it off to my agent Elaine Spencer at the beginning of the week, so now I just hope she agrees! (And that after I do whatever revisions she suggests, and I send if off to my editor Leis, she agrees too! Although even if she loves it, there will be more revisions.)

I got to see the cover for the book and OH MY GODS I love it! I'm just waiting for the word that it is okay to share, and then I will let you have a peek too, I promise! [I also got to see the cover for VEILED MAGIC, the non-Baba Yaga series book coming out in ebook form in November, and that one rocks too!]

Next up is the fourth book in the Baba Yaga series. The next three (in theory--I only have a contract for the next two, so we'll see) will center around The Riders, although the Baba Yagas will make appearances I'm sure. Do you want to try and stop them? No, I didn't think so!

Book four is going to be Mikhail Day's story. I'm still playing with titles (since the "Wicked" titles only work for the not-so-wicked witches). What do you think of LIGHT OF DAY? (With the following titles being something like DARK OF KNIGHT/RISING SUN or SUN RISING) Or do you prefer something that plays on the original Wickedly titles like DANGEROUSLY CHARMING? Inquiring minds want to know.

But here's the big question: Who comes next after Day? Do I write book five about Gregori Sun (the Red Rider) or about Alexei Knight (the Black Rider)? I can't decide, and I need to make up my mind once I start working on the extended outline for Day's book. (I'm doing some research and character studies right now.)

So here's the deal! Give me your answer to either or both of the questions (title/which Rider) in the comments here, and I'll pick a commenter at random to receive a signed copy of the Baba Yaga book of her or his choice.

Also, did I mention I FINISHED?!!!!!

  1. So excited about all of this! I like the Dangerously...titles. It flows in with the Wickedly... And, I would love to hear about Gregori first, (hopefully we will hear about Alexei too!). :D

  3. Light of Day, or Lightening of Day (in case there are some bad ass scenes in there)

Gregori next - Red Sun, Take Warning

  4. I like the flow of how you presented the titles as a publishing order, day time, dark night time & wrapping up with the rising sun. It matches the natural cycle they represent.

  5. I vote for the DANGEROUSLY titles -- it ties in the new books with the old, gives you lots of variation for all the future books in the series and connotes the genre. (LIGHT OF DAY, to me, sounds like it could be a suspense novel or a thriller, but most of all, it makes me think that it's related to Springsteen's song by the same name.)

    1. It would probably be Dangerous for the first book, Wonderful for the second one, and Powerful for the third. (Like, if the second book was about Gregori, maybe it would be Wisely Wonderful, or something like that, and then something Powerful for Alexei.)

  6. First of all, I am so excited for you!!! You are such a wonderful writer and I always look forward to whatever you write next. As for the next book, I am thinking Dangerous or Dangerously something like that because it fits with the other books and I think it will draw the attention of readers who don't know you yet better than the play on words, although they are also fabulous!
For the after that, I would love to read about Alexei :D

  8. I think the Dangerously titles would flow best with the Wickedly titles. As for the next rider - put a name in the hat and draw one out. Either will be great to read about. I can't wait to read the third book since it it set in Wyoming if I remember correctly.

  9. Congratulations on overcoming obstacles and finishing the first draft. I'm looking forward to buying the book when it's available.

I don't think I'm much good at picking titles, so I'll remain silent on possibilities. Whatever you decide on, I'll be buying and downloading the e-books.

As to the titles of the Riders books I like Light of Day but I'll also suggest Darkest Knight and Shining Sun for the other two.

  11. Yayyyy! Omigosh! Congrats on finishing the 3rd book. :) You're my hero! Also love the new cover. And in my humble opinion, I like the titles of the Rider books being a play on their names (Day/Knight/Sun) more than the Dangerously Charming, etc! :) Especially thinkg that Light of Day is a great working title!! Hope that helps!!!

  12. Re-posting to be in the comp. lol
Yayyy!!! Omg i cant wait im hooked on the series! I would like to ready about gregori sun. I think he would have an interesting story. As for titles from the ones you gave I would pick Rising Sun. Or you could play off the Riders theme and the wicked theme something like Deadly Ride. Or Protectors Call. I dunno just fun thoughts! Cant wait to read everything!
