Feline Friday: And the Lion Shall Lie Down with the Lamb

It's time for another installment of Feline Friday, in which I post completely frivolous pictures of one or more of my adorable cats, rather than writing up an actual blog post
.

If you are wondering about the title of the post--"And the lion shall lie down with the lamb"--some of you may recognize that as a quote from the bible. (Although I'm guessing that most of you are just stunned to realize I can actually quote from the bible at all.)

In this case, the lion in question is Mystic, my giant (almost 17 lbs) gray cat. The one who, for unknown reasons, took an unswerving dislike to little Samhain (less than 7 lb) the day she moved in. Mystic is very aggressive towards her, even though she's now lived with us for about 3 years; he will attack her with no provocation, and I have to keep her upstairs when I'm not around to watch out for her.

Which is why I was so stunned when I walked into the living room about three weeks ago and saw this scene. Mind you, it was merely a temporary cease-fire, and Samhain looks extremely dubious about the whole thing, but still, it was very hopeful.

Now if we could just get the Democrats and Republicans to do the same thing....

  1. . . . mmhmm, I think there's more hope of peace in the Mideast AND acceptance of non-hererosexual marriage in Georgia than Demos and Repubs getting along! lol

  2. Sadly, you are probably right. Le sigh.

  3. I think all the sensible people would be better off to rise up as a third party and squash the d's & r's.
Love your moment of cat peace.

  4. He's so huge you'd think he wouldn't feel any threat from a wee squirt!

But then, speckled gals are a whole different can of worms. They're out to rule the world and I think even the big boys know it. I had trouble from the day I brought my tortoiseshell home--I called our home The Meowee East. Then the two boys passed, and we got a calico, and she's even more trouble! The torty and calico are hell on paws!

All this to say I know how hopeful you feel when you catch these little moments of detente.
